Fellowship, fun, service, respect, safe, acceptance, caring, spiritual guidance, self esteem, sense of belonging, learning valuable lessons about life...
These are the words some of our middle and high school students use to describe the Youth Program at First United Methodist Church. Our youth are active participants in the life of First United Methodist Church. From the bell choir and youth choir to performing in dinner theaters; from mission trips to community service; from ushering to assisting with Communion during services; from Sky Lake to youth group field trips... opportunities for spiritual growth, service and friendship are available at First United Methodist Church. Our Youth Program encompasses those activities listed below. Additional information on the music programs and church-wide service may be found on other pages of this site.
After School Program - For middle school and high school age students, Tuesdays through Fridays immediately following school. Transportation from Oneonta Middle and High School is provided.
Friday Youth Group - Each week we meet for fun and fellowship. Activities include field trips (skating, laser-tag, corn maze and more), movie nights, pizza parties and game nights.
Sunday School - Each Sunday from 9:30-10:30 A.M. Classes are available for middle school grades 7 & 8, and senior high grades 9-12.
Service Opportunities - Youth participate in the CROP Walk, Saturday's Bread; assist agencies such as Catskill Rural AIDS Services and Hospice; help with programs involving younger children in our church; and assist our neighbors near and far, to name just a few.
